Note on Transformation of Scale
Footnote on the transformation of scale
At the University of Idaho, a scale of 1 to 5 was used for Fall 90 and Spring 91, and a 0 to 4 scale was used the other quarters. At the University of Utah, a 1 to 8 scale was used from Fall 92 through Summer 94. I used the following linear transformation to try to make the scales equivalent:
, where x is the average using the original scale, a and b are the lowest and highest possibilities on the original scale, and y is the average transformed to the 1 to 6 scale.
